Wonder is building a community resource marketplace for families to buy and sell virtual classes, one-on-one tutoring, on-demand courses, homeschool curriculum and resources, parent-education tools, new and used physical products including handmade or vintage items and craft supplies, as well as access online events and workshops, and much more.
A Message From the Founders
Wonder was an idea that started in January 2020 with a goal to support the homeschool community. At that time we were a homeschooling family of seven, with our children ranging from toddler to highschool freshman. Like many of you, we started our homeschool journey when our first child was still in the belly. We’ve since added another little one to our crew, born in 2022, and look forward to many more years of learning alongside our children.
When we began developing Wonder, our hope was to accomplish several important goals:
- Provide a way for homeschoolers to support fellow homeschoolers (including alumni) during every part of their journey.
- Give homeschool families an opportunity to earn additional income.
- Make finding resources easier.
- Make finding local groups and programs easier.
- Make finding homeschool events easier.
- Make finding volunteer and job opportunities for homeschool students easier.
- Financially support homeschool programs and students through educational grants.
- Create ways for homeschoolers to support homeschoolers.
The year that was 2020 opened the eyes of millions of Americans who now more than ever before desire to support communities, businesses, and individuals who share their values.
It’s time we stand up and stand together!
This is the vision and mission of Wonder and it’s why we’re committed to helping thousands of homeschoolers connect, share resources, and generate income like never before.
In May 2023, we began partnering with a team of developers who are working to help us build a more robust platform.
The homeschool community is full of creative, resourceful, and inspiring people who are dedicated to homeschooling their children no matter the financial sacrifice required.
We believe homeschooling is a form of entrepreneurship, and our vision at Wonder is to create a platform for homeschooling families to share their knowledge and expertise, while developing income-earning opportunities from products they already create for their family.
We are also big fans of homeschooling remaining private, with little to no restrictions, in order to allow families the flexibility to instill a love of learning within each child, and to choose methods and paths that best suit each child’s needs. We understand the concerns of many veteran homeschoolers who have fought and continue to fight for pro-homeschool laws and parental freedoms. Although each shop determines their own pricing, a minimum of 10% of all Wonder proceeds are given directly to homeschooling students, families, and organizations through our Wonder Gives program. Families can also save more, earn rewards, and access special offers and discounts for local events, while connecting with the local homeschool community through our Wonder Family Membership.
We’ve personally been blessed with wonderful mentors that have imparted to us priceless wisdom and knowledge to help maintain a healthy and peaceful family rhythm in our homeschooling journey.
We know by experience there is exponential value in gleaning from the guidance of others, and we desire that Wonder will provide this same gift to you and many others. We sincerely hope you will both give and receive value from the Wonder community for all your homeschool days.
Blessings from our family to yours,
Corey & Helen Scott
